Staff from the University’s Seaborne Library organised a Caring Cups campaign. Throughout the last academic term, they encouraged staff and students across the institution to fill re-used disposable coffee cups with loose change. The cups were collected before Christmas – and an amazing £430.70 had accumulated! Added to this, there was a bake sale, winter crafting workshops, a pop-up swap shop for pre-loved clothes and accessories, and toys were collected at Christmas for resettled children. Wow! We cannot thank the Direct Cleaning Group enough. What an amazing initiative!! Richard from Direct Cleaning Group... Myself and my staff have came up with a fundraising idea for 2019 utilising my waste business to donate possibly 2-3 days a month collecting scrap metal from peoples homes in the local communities of Ellesmere Port, Chester and Wirral areas. Today has been a very special day thanks to those of you who sponsored a Christmas Dinner for someone who is homeless, in Chester these lovely volunteers gave up their Christmas Day to serve a delicious roast dinner and Christmas presents to 20 people who are without a place to call home this year and are sleeping rough, prepared by the awesome team at The Coach House Inn - Chester. Forfutures, Cheshire West and Chester Council’s contractor, has applied for planning permission to turn Hamilton House into a much-needed hub in the city centre. It is proposed to turn a section of the ground floor of the council-owned property on Hamilton Place into a triage-style support and assessment facility for vulnerable rough sleepers and sofa surfers.
