Why your vote for share matters . . .
The Aviva Community Fund will finance over 500 projects across four different fund levels and four categories, giving the awards to communities throughout the UK -
share has applied for funding for £25K in the category of inclusivity.
So far we have raised approximately £35,000 for the “Buy a brick” project. With a grant from the Aviva Community Fund of £25,000 share would be able to complete the “Buy a Brick” project by purchasing a property in Chester, which would provide homeless people with a secure base from which to build a new life away from the streets. We believe that we would be able to help 4 people on any one year and take them away from the streets.
The funds raised so far have come from the generosity you, our supporters and from the wider community whereby people and companies have been able to purchase a "brick" for £1.
Our vision is to enable people living on the streets to have a roof over their heads and steer them towards a brighter future where they can make a positive impact on society. We do believe that every person could add something to the community in which they live and the help we offer is vital and, in some cases, is the last chance some will have to take the first step towards significant change in their lives.
So how can you help?
If we win this award we believe the work will:
- change the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in our community by enabling them to live a more secure and settled life away from the streets whilst allowing to bridge existing gaps within the community.
- provide an example that other charities can follow in other parts
of the region and the country
