SHARE Charity Celebrates Inaugural Fundraising Dinner
On Friday 7 July Chester-based charity SHARE (Supporting Homeless, Assisting Refugees Everywhere) welcomed over 100 guests to their first Charity Dinner at the Abode, Chester.
The evening was sponsored by local business Staff 86 and guests included charity volunteers, trustees, staff and corporate supporters, raising over £3200 for the charity.
Guests enjoyed a Drinks Reception on the 5th Floor Brasserie with stunning views over Chester Race Course, and everyone took advantage of the open-air terrace on a very warm evening.
Judith Kenyon, Events & Fundraising Manager for SHARE, welcomed the guests and introduced Pebble O’Donnell from Staff 86 who explained to the audience why they had chosen to be a Corporate Sponsor for the charity.
Pebble said “It’s important to us at Staff 86 to support our local community and after learning more about SHARE and all the amazing work they do, not only in Chester but the rest of the world, we wanted to do what we could to help.
“As an employment agency it’s important to us to not only create job opportunities but to also support with personal development, and like SHARE help to empower people, and so it felt like the perfect partnership.”
Guests then heard from two volunteers who gave very open and frank accounts of their lives before SHARE and explained how the charity had turned everything around for them and now they work as volunteers to help others like them.
After dinner, Adam Dandy, local businessman and SHARE Chairman and co-founder, introduced a very special young lady who has been fundraising on behalf of SHARE over the last few months.
He said, “Emma Roberts is just 8 years old, but wanted to make a difference after seeing homeless people on the streets in London, and has done a phenomenal job so far, raising over £3000 from a variety of activities, including a 10 mile sponsored walk, charity quizzes, singing with local choir Philsharmonic and getting numerous raffle prizes for her events.
“She is a true inspiration and I am delighted to present Emma with the SHARE Superstar trophy.”
The evening ended with dancing and everyone congratulated the SHARE team on an excellent evening. This was the first charity dinner, but it definitely won’t be the last.
