Inside SHAC

For somebody experiencing homelessness or rough sleeping, finding the right support can feel overwhelming, particularly when they are already facing one of the most difficult periods of their life.

That is why we created the SHARE Homeless Action Centre (SHAC) at St Martin's Way, Chester CH1 2NR.

SHAC is a safe, welcoming place for people experiencing homelessness, but it is far more than somewhere to find warmth and shelter. It was created to be a genuine one-stop shop for homelessness support, bringing together the people, services and practical help somebody may need to begin rebuilding their life.

Support for the whole person

Everybody’s circumstances are different, so there is no single solution to homelessness.

At SHAC, people can access food, hot drinks, showers, clean clothing and other everyday essentials. However, addressing someone’s immediate needs is only the beginning.

SHAC also provides access to:

  • Specialist homeless healthcare
  • Housing advice and support
  • Addiction support
  • Employment assistance
  • Computers and internet access
  • Practical classes and activities
  • Individual guidance from people who are ready to listen

Our team takes the time to understand the personal challenges standing between each individual and a safe, secure home. They can then help that person access the right services and take positive steps forward; all under one roof.
