Job Title: Homeless Services Support Worker
Location: Chester, UK (with occasional travel to Mold, North Wales)
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week working over 5 days (Monday to Sunday)
Salary: £30,000
Reporting to: Homeless Services Manager
About SHARE:
Supporting Homeless Assisting Refugees Everywhere, known as SHARE, is a dynamic and growing charity based in Chester and North Wales. We make a significant impact in supporting refugees in the UK and overseas, as well as the homeless in Chester.
The charity is managed by a board of Trustees and supported by a team of passionate and loyal volunteers. SHARE operates the SHARE Shop in Chester as a not-for-profit company, donating all profit to the charity.
Our direct support is provided at our ShareSHAC (Share Homeless Action Centre) on Frodsham Street, Chester, where we are expanding our team to deliver vital services to those in need.
As part of our long-term strategy, we aim to professionalise and grow our support services for the homeless in Chester. Working with local authorities, agencies, and charities, we provide comprehensive support to prevent homelessness, assist those currently homeless, and offer enrichment, learning opportunities, and tailored plans to help service users start their journey out of homelessness.
Job Description
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, positive, and resilient Support Worker to help deliver our services.
Previous experience in this area is desirable but not essential. Candidates must be willing to embrace new challenges, think creatively, and handle complex and challenging behaviours. Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and report writing is required.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Supporting the Homeless Services Manager with various tasks.
• Engaging with service users to assess their circumstances and needs.
• Completing and updating service user registrations.
• Building rapport with colleagues and service users.
• Reinforcing appropriate behaviours and serving as a mentor.
• Maintaining professional boundaries while being friendly and sensitive.
• Participating in training (e.g., First Aid, Food Hygiene).
• Leading food provision and ordering.
• Driving the SHARE van to collect and deliver essential items.
• Managing online and paper filing systems.
• Developing and managing volunteer rotas.
• Overseeing health and safety compliance within the ShareSHAC.
• Representing SHARE at community and charity events.
• Advocating for service users in meetings with local authorities and other organisations.

Essential Skills:

Terms and Conditions:
• Competitive salary of £30,000 per annum
• 40 hours per week (flexible over 5 days, Monday to Sunday)
• 28 days annual leave (inclusive of public holidays)
