On Friday 7 July Chester-based charity SHARE (Supporting Homeless, Assisting Refugees Everywhere) welcomed over 100 guests to their first Charity Dinner at the Abode, Chester.
The evening was sponsored by local business Staff 86 and guests included charity volunteers, trustees, staff and corporate supporters, raising over £3200 for the charity.
Guests enjoyed a Drinks Reception on the 5th Floor Brasserie with stunning views over Chester Race Course, and everyone took advantage of the open-air terrace on a very warm evening.
Judith Kenyon, Events & Fundraising Manager for SHARE, welcomed the guests and introduced Pebble O’Donnell from Staff 86 who explained to the audience why they had chosen to be a Corporate Sponsor for the charity.
Pebble said “It’s important to us at Staff 86 to support our local community and after learning more about SHARE and all the amazing work they do, not only in Chester but the rest of the world, we wanted to do what we could to help.
“As an employment agency it’s important to us to not only create job opportunities but to also support with personal development, and like SHARE help to empower people, and so it felt like the perfect partnership.”
Guests then heard from two volunteers who gave very open and frank accounts of their lives before SHARE and explained how the charity had turned everything around for them and now they work as volunteers to help others like them.
After dinner, Adam Dandy, local businessman and SHARE Chairman and co-founder, introduced a very special young lady who has been fundraising on behalf of SHARE over the last few months.
He said, “Emma Roberts is just 8 years old, but wanted to make a difference after seeing homeless people on the streets in London, and has done a phenomenal job so far, raising over £3000 from a variety of activities, including a 10 mile sponsored walk, charity quizzes, singing with local choir Philsharmonic and getting numerous raffle prizes for her events.
“She is a true inspiration and I am delighted to present Emma with the SHARE Superstar trophy.”
The evening ended with dancing and everyone congratulated the SHARE team on an excellent evening. This was the first charity dinner, but it definitely won’t be the last.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chester, UK – March 24, 2023 – SHARE (Supporting Homeless Assisting Refugees Everywhere), a registered charity based in Chester and North Wales (charity number 1166530), is proud to announce a donation of £2,000 to Flintshire Foodbank. This donation will directly support local families who are currently struggling to keep a roof over their heads amidst the ongoing cost of living crisis.
Flintshire Foodbank, based in Mold, North Wales, operates food bank collection points across Flintshire, providing much-needed support to those facing financial hardship. With the cost of living crisis affecting an increasing number of families, SHARE's donation will help to ensure that no one in the community goes without essential supplies during these challenging times.
A Founder and Trustee of SHARE Adam Dandy explained the charity's wider goals and the impact of this donation, saying, "At SHARE, we are dedicated not only to helping people who are homeless or refugees but also to preventing homelessness in the first place. This donation to Flintshire Foodbank will provide essential support to local families who are struggling to make ends meet, and we hope that it will help alleviate some of the financial pressures they are currently facing. It's important to remember that every little bit counts, and our collective efforts can make a real difference in our community."
The funds for this donation were raised through the new ShareShop in Chester, a social enterprise store that directly supports SHARE's charitable activities. The people of Chester have shown tremendous support for ShareShop, and their generosity has enabled SHARE to continue assisting vulnerable individuals and families both locally and further afield.
SHARE is grateful to everyone who has contributed to this donation and encourages the community to continue supporting ShareShop and other charitable endeavours that make a difference in the lives of those who are in need.

]]>Before she ends her time in office, Jeannie also wishes to acknowledge the work of SHARE. SHARE – Supporting Homeless Assisting Refugees Everywhere – is a local charity to which Jeannie has offered a great deal of support. The charity will be honoured at the same event.
She explained, ‘Those who visit The Share Shop in Pepper Street find that with its delightful café it is much more than a charity shop. It’s a lovely place to rest and relax. Of course the shop is an important part of the work, but it is only one aspect. SHARE offers recovery art and mental welfare support in addition to providing basic necessities to Chester’s most vulnerable.’
‘The Share Shop is unique to Chester, and that is the reason that as High Sheriff of Cheshire I would like to acknowledge their work.’
Jeannie is nearing the end to her year as High Sheriff, a year she committed to supporting the arts. Many have benefitted from her interest and support. She has organised a special event in the welcoming and stylish environment of the New Chester Market Hall which is hosting the event on Wednesday 29 March at 7.00, where she will present both with their awards.
SHARE Founder and Trustee Adam Dandy said “We have been humbled by the continuous support and encouragement our esteemed High Sheriff Jeannie, has shown to us all here at Chester’s Share Shop, and also at our Day Centre on City Rd, Jeannie has been a regular customer and advocate for the work our volunteers do to help people who are homeless and or refugees here in the City of Chester and around the World, and we as a very appreciative team at SHARE, can’t thank her enough for inviting us to receive this honour.

]]>“SHARE has supported The Hope Project in Greece since we formed our charity in 2015. This latest donation of £2,000 is a way of us continuing to assist people and specifically feed people who are refugees, who have been fleeing from the terrible atrocities of War in Syria and arriving on Lesvos since early 2015.” Adam Dandy, Co-Founder & Trustee of SHARE.
Lesvos is one of the main hotspots for refugees crossing from Turkey to Greece. It has some of the worst conditions in Europe, people are deprived of their dignity and treated in ways that should not be accepted anywhere in the world.
A spokesperson for The Hope Project said “We would like to thank SHARE in Mold and Chester for still supporting us and for your donation of £2000 for food support.”

Sonic Trip Project are a Progressive Space Rock collective, led by one of Chester's biggest musical exports, Vince Cory, and armed with Darren Butler on drums, Lee Carr on bass and Jez Creek on fx.
Expect a unique instrumental psychedelic experience from a band fresh off a summer of touring and still very much match fit coming into this event.
This is their only local date for 2022. Not to be missed.
DEF NEON met whilst jamming in a rock band at Vic Studios in Wrexham. They connected through a shared love of robots, cartoons, horror films and raving. These common passions brought the pair together, leading them to experiment with old Roland sequencers, Kaoss Pads, Samplers and Talk Boxes.
The band signed to independent, Manchester-based Label AnalogueTrash in early 2016, with their eponymous debut album released in November of that year.
DEF NEON’s infectious sound and engaging live performances across the UK have proved popular with live event organizers, industry professionals and fans alike, leading to a number of high-profile support slots for acts such as PWEI, 65daysofstatic, The Birthday Massacre, The Orb, Sonic Boom Six and Death In Vegas.
In addition, the band have toured extensively throughout the UK, culminating in headline slots at events such as Threshold Festival, Landed Festival and Blackthorn Music Festival, as well as countless other shows across the UK.
An enticing combination of local heroes The Daymons and The Suns.
LBC are hot off the heels of a number of regional summer festival appearances & gigs.
Expect guitar-driven garage rock done extremely well with slight sixties undertones.
Jack Horner, aka Leon the pig farmer, is a Manchester-based Yorkshire beat poet…
An ex-serviceman who began writing verse to help him deal with a PTSD diagnosis. Leon has an assertive take on spoken word with fast firing rhythmic verse and a sharp outlook on both his mental health recovery and other social topics and observations that catch his eye.
An energetic delivery that has been compared to both a belt fed mortar explosion and a staccato assault full of energy and emotion which can silence and mesmerize.
This is his only Chester date for 2022.
Originally from Blackpool, Amos continues to rip up the regional Hip Hop scene with releases for labels GOLD ON THE MIXER and Northern Structure. Certainly one of the hardest working and passionate musicians in the four walls. Expect a really healthy vibe, both on and off the stage.
Again, this is his only local live date for 2022.
A multi-instrumentalist and songwriter originally from Hong Kong. Expect a little bit of all genres from this talented export.

Founder & Trustee of SHARE Adam Dandy said “We would like to thank our new neighbours Jim Dorrington and his incredible team at ARTEZZAN for selecting SHARE as their very first menu partner, this means that whenever anyone orders a dish with a ♦️ next to it, 25p will go directly to SHARE, allowing us to help feed people who are homeless and or refugees, in our Day Centre on City Rd in Chester. SHARE - Supporting Homeless Assudting Refugees Everywhere. Registered Charity No.1166530.
UKRAINIAN refugees escaping war in their homeland by staying with families in Cheshire West will have new funding available to them thanks to charity SHARE (Supporting Homeless, Assisting Refugees Everywhere).
Fundraising by the Chester based charity means that people, who have come to the borough via the national Family Visa Scheme in 2022, can access financial support locally.
The charity, which has recently moved into new premises in the city centre, has raised £17,000 for Ukrainian refugees since the conflict began in March this year.
Chester’s ShareShop have announced their relocation.
The charity closed their current shop on Northgate St today and revealed they are moving to a new location on Pepper street becoming Chesters largest charity and coffee shop.
Founder/Trustee Adam Dandy commented: “We’re delighted to announce that we have provisionally agreed terms to rent the old Dawson’s Music Showroom, which is a huge space, at a discounted rate with the kind support of the Grosvenor Estate, to whom we are extremely grateful, this will allow us to use even more penny’s in every single pound that our brilliant volunteers raise to help people who are homeless right here in the City of Chester as well as people who are refugees abroad.”
At almost 5,000sq ft with 4 times the retail space than the previous unit, the new ShareShop will include a Cafe with a Parent & Baby Area & VIP Pram Parking. The charity are promising that the new venue will have free internet access and plenty of free charging for laptops and mobiles. Also new will be an “InspireRoom”, that companies and groups can hire “in the knowledge that they’ll be supporting people who are homeless right here in Chester and people who are refugees at the same time, every time they have a meeting, complete with tea, coffee & cake packages!”
Said Adam Dandy : “When we set up SHARE we wanted to create a way for the public to be able to donate and see exactly how their money was being used to support people who are homeless and assist people who are refugees, the Suspended Coffees, the Buy a Brick Appeal, the Kindness Wall and now the the Share Hub, as well as recent convoys of aid to Refugees in Ukraine from Chester and North Wales and the amazing work that our teams of volunteers do in our ShareShop in Mold, by distributing aid to hundreds of resettled families, mothers and children placed into emergency care, and people struggling to keep a roof over the heads each month, all of these different parts of SHARE give public a way to really know and feel their donation or contribution has made a direct difference to someone else in their hour of need.
The new ShareShop at the old Dawson’s Music Store on Pepper St, next to Chester Amphitheatre, will continue to fund and support all of these different parts of the charity with your help and custom and we’d love you to join us or support us by coming in for a brew, a cake, some shopping, to volunteer or just to have a look around the next time you’re in Chester.
“We’d like all our supporters to be the first through the doors when we open, so we’d like to invite you all to our grand opening in September – Watch this space! In order to get our brand new ShareShop set up with minimum cost, we are in need of the following trades and supplies, please tag anyone who might be able to sponsor or donate these services: Joiner, electrician, vinyl flooring, shop front signage, soft play equipment, interior decorator. ”
Since Chester’s MP Chris Matheson opened it’s first shop on the 16th of January 2016 opposite Storyhouse, Chester’s ShareShop has played a key role in helping to shape provision and a voice for people who are homeless in the city, with some even working in the shop itself and later gaining jobs at local employers including Chester Zoo.
Notably the ShareShop is the home of Suspended Coffees in Chester, where you can go to purchase a hot drink for someone who is homeless, even writing a kind message on the coffee cup sleeve.
The charity’s recent Buy A Brick Appeal saw bricks on wallpaper being sold and signed with supportive messages for £1 each, to buy a 3 bedroom house in the city centre, which now houses up to 3 people who are homeless, as a stepping stone to helping people off the streets.
The charity shop also directly funds the Share Hub on City Rd, which feeds, clothes and supports up to 100 people each week who are homeless, either living in hostels, temporary accommodation, struggling to keep a roof over their heads or sleeping rough, providing free internet access, help to apply for housing, writing CVs and applying for employment, as well as a weekly Arts Club.
Stay tuned!

We have allocated £11,000 of the funds raised to be used as grants of £200 per family and £3,000 towards white goods to support families placed into accommodation 🤩
SHARE hosted a party for local Ukrainian families which was organised by the Wesley Church and co-ordinated by Iana Carling.
There was singing, dancing, food and entertainment. Everyone had an amazing time! It was also a big celebration for all the children who had a birthday between 1st July and 1st Sept as they were not able to celebrate with their friends at school. SHARE funded an entertainer, Soul Kitchen provided birthday cakes and CWAC provided £10 birthday vouchers.
We currently unable to take any more physical donations at Share. Subscribe to our newsletter to be kept up to date about the work Share is doing.

We are getting lots of requests on how people can help animals. This website has lots of information on Charities dedicated to helping animals in Ukraine.
Help us hit £10,000!
After being inundated last week with physical donations of aid we are now preparing to send a team of SHARE Volunteers from Chester & North Wales to the Polish / Ukrainian Border, this could happen as soon as next week, we have already established links with other charities and teams on the ground and our team from Chester & North Wales will be focused on buying and distributing aid, including food and medical supplies at various points along the border where hundreds of thousands of people are arriving. We will be reporting back daily so that anyone donating to our appeal can see how their money is being used. We need your support, fundraising and donations now more than ever.
SHARE have been inundated with very very kind donations of aid for people fleeing from Ukraine. We are confident that we will have enough to fill the trucks leaving for Poland on Friday and therefore we will be pausing our appeal for donations of aid from 12 noon on Thursday 3rd March.
SHARE will now be focusing instead on raising financial donations, so that we can buy further specific donations on location near to the border of Ukraine, buying aid on location has multiple benefits, it supports the local economy in the areas where refugees are and more importantly it will allow us to buy exactly what is needed on the ground at that moment, it also makes the most of your donations, instead of us needing to pay for haulage, so that every penny can be used to buy much needed aid.
If you are able to donate or help us to raise money please donate online here.
During the week of 7th March, 3 lorries with essential humanitarian supplies will leave for the Poland-Ukraine border to help mothers with children who were forced to flee the conflict with Russia.
The support is coordinated by the PISC organisation based in Wrexham http://pisc.uk
Drop-off locations are listed below.
